Explanation of Solution

Important difference between monosaccharide and disaccharide are the number of sugar units that is present.  Monosaccharide means a single sugar unit.  Glucose and fructose are the simplest carbohydrates.  This contain only one saccharide unit.  Disaccharide consists of two sugar units that are bonded through bridging oxygen atom.  The bond formed by the bridging oxygen atom is known as glycosidic bond.
