Question
Chapter 16, Problem 1CS
Summary Introduction
To describe:
How could one tell if the InlA and InlB genes are expressed constitutively or are induced in the presence of the human receptors?
Introduction:
Listeria monocytogenes are facultative anaerobic Gram-positive bacterium that causes listeriosis. The Listeria monocytogenes causes food poison by ingestion of contaminated food. The Listeria has two surface proteins like InIA and InlB, where InIA is able to mimic the intestinal cells and gain access into the bloodstream. Whereas the InlB, gain access into liver cells, where it establishes the sight of infection.
