Introduction:
The autonomic nervous system (ANS) is a division of the peripheral nervous system (PNS) that supplies glands and smooth muscles affecting the function of the internal organs. The two divisions of the ANS are the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. These two divisions often oppose each other in terms of effect. The sympathetic nervous system is active during the conditions of stress, emergency, and exercise.
