There are certain risks associated with nutrient–drug interactions. These may be due to prolonged usage of drugs, different combinations of drugs that are used, or due to poor nutrition status. The risks can be minimized as follows:
- The drug formulations should be checked and be taken as prescribed either on empty stomach or with food. It may alter the absorption.
- The dairy products shall be taken before or after 2 hours of taking medications.
- The alcohol consumption shall be limited.
- Some drugs require avoidance of consumption of grape juice.
