Thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped gland present in the anterior neck, on the trachea, and inferiorly to the larynx. The two lobes are connected by a median bridge called the isthmus. Internally, the thyroid gland consists of spherical hollow follicles with an areolar connective tissue separating the follicles.
