Chapter 17, Problem 9TY
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

In order for a cell to divide, it undergoes a cycle known as the cell cycle. It consists of Interphase and Mitosis. Interphase has three subphases: G1, S, and G2. To make sure the processes in the cell cycle are going as expected, the cell has its own mechanisms to check this progress. These are called cell cycle checkpoints. If any abnormal events have occurred, they are corrected or the cell cycle is halted. There are three major checkpoints and they occur during the following phases: G1, G2, and metaphase of mitosis.
