The way protease inhibitors disrupt the life cycle of the HIV-1 virus.
Concept introduction:
Today people infected with HIV and AIDS are treated with a combination of drugs that include entry inhibitors. Reverse transcriptase inhibitors, and protease inhibitors. Entry inhibitors attach to the surface of either the lymphocyte or HIV virus, which blocks entry into the cell. Entry inhibitors include fusion and Selzentry. Protease inhibitors prevent the proper cutting and formation of proteins.
