The thyroid gland is known to secrete three hormones known as the triiodothyronine (T3), tetraiodothyronine (T4), and calcitonin. The T3 and T4 hormones are secreted by the thyroid follicles, and calcitonin is released by the parafollicular cells of thyroid gland.
