Question
Chapter 18, Problem 16RQ
Summary Introduction
To determine:
Four opposing effects of the natriuretic peptides and angiotensin II.
Introduction:
Natriuretic peptides are those peptides that induce natriuresis. Natriuresis is a process of the loss of sodium ions. There are three types of natriuretic peptides:
1) Atrial natriuretic peptides also known as ANP.
2) Brain natriuretic peptides also known as BNP.
3) C-type natriuretic peptides also known as CNP.
Angiotensin II is a peptide hormone that causes the constriction of the blood vessels and increases the blood pressure.
