Thermodynamic properties are classified into state functions and path functions. A thermodynamic state is described by particular temperature, pressure and number of particles in the system. The property which is depending only upon the state of the system is called state functions. State functions are independent upon the path travelled to reach the state. Path functions are the properties that depend on the path followed to reach a particular state. They are inexact differentials and cannot be integrated.
