Concept explainers
(a)
Interpretation:
To draw two isomers of the triacylglycerol of sunflower oil.
Concept Introduction:
Fats and oil are the triesters of fatty acids with glycerol. Here fatty acids are carboxylic acids with long hydrocarbon chain. The hydrogenation reaction converts the unsaturated fatty acids to saturated ones that convert the vegetable oil to solid fats. This is called as hydrogenation of oil.
