Chapter 18, Problem 21RQ

Why can a multispeed fan motor be operated at lower speed than most induction motors without harm to the motor windings?

Forced Induction – For combustion engines, two main types of forced induction (or pressure charging) are used: Supercharging and Turbocharging. Both methods compress the inlet charge substantially above atmospheric pressure before the point of ignition. The compressed charge will become more dense which will create an increase in power and torque from a similar sized naturally aspirated engine. It is worth noting that on high speed vehicles (Formula One) a ram-air effect forced induction can be achieved using intake tube(s) directed into the on-coming air. This can be seen on race cars where the intake is above the drivers head for unrestricted flow or on racing motorbikes where the intake is positioned in the front fairing. Draw a schematic diagram of a supercharged engine and a turbocharged engine layout:
A three phase induction motor operates with a rotor speed of 1440 rpm and develops a torque of 66.32NM at full load. The full load power output is * O 10 kw O 9 kw O 8 kW O 11 kW
what is the efficiency? what is the NPSHR? what is the motor power requirement?
