A 50-year-old patient was hospitalized in the infectious department of the district hospital on the 4th day of illness with suspected typhoid-paratyphoid disease. The disease began with a gradual rise in temperature, which reached a maximum level of 39 degrees C on the 3rd day. A 38 year-old woman went to a hospital and complained of a non-productive cough and dyspnea, which has progressed over two weeks. Based on physical examination, she was pale, diaphoretic and in acute respiratory distress. According to her, she had a sexual contact with his partner for the past weeks. The physician ordered laboratory tests and results revealed that the CD4 count was significantly low.Why is the CD4 count low? What might be the diagnosis of the patient?

- Answer by listing only the name of the disease. Some questions will require the name of the organism. A 37 year old woman presents with muscular pain and flu-like symptoms. She tells you she is generally a healthy woman, as she is an avid hiker. Differential diagnosis include– occult gastrointestinal bleeding, septicaemia, hepatitis or recurrence of malaria Emergency investigations: normal haemoglobin (140g/l), white cell count of 6.1 x 109/l, sickle-cell anaemia (excluded), thick blood film Treatment: intravenous quinine. Unfortunately the Px rapidly deteriorated over the next 30h leading to cardiac arrest. Post-mortem diagnosis: Cerebral Malaria QUESTION: 1.What is your final diagnosis here? Her medical history revealed that she had eczema in childhood. During her early teens, she had facial acne, for which she was given tetracycline. Physical examination revealed a rash of erythema and small blisters, with marked excoriation because of the itching. Her hands were red, scaly, and dry. The rash on her hands was different from the eruptions on her neck and ears. A contact hypersensitivity was suspected. Follow-up patch tests included a standard battery of agents—rubber, cosmetics, plant extracts, perfumes, nickel, and makeup. Strongly positive reactions for rubber and nickel were observed. The student was advised to eliminate contact with rubber (e.g., rubber gloves) used at home or on the job. Her jewelry probably contained nickel and was believed to be the source of the irritation to her earlobes, neck, and…arrow_forwardMyra, a 27-year-old pregnant woman was stranded in a public bus during a typhoon.
