Summary Introduction

To review:

The reason as to why there is very little progress against cancer within the year range 1950 to 2011.

Introduction:

Cancer is a notorious disease, which is caused by a variety of factors. The normal genes start dividing abnormally leading to tumor formation. Some common cancer affecting men or women are lung cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, and blood cancer. Comparing to old times, with advances in technology and diagnosis becoming improved, cancer has become treatable. However, the progress has been slow, in fact only 14% (percent) the death rate is seen in the year range 1950 to 2011.

Cancer can arise spontaneously, but it can also be induced as a result of environmental factors such as sun exposure, infections, and tobacco smoking. If you were asked to help allocate resources to cancer research, what emphasis would you place on research to find cancer cures, compared to that placed on education about cancer prevention?
Every year, about a million Americans are diagnosed with cancer. This means that about 75 million Americans now living will eventually have cancer, And one in five will die of the disease. There are many kinds of cancers and many causes, such as smoking, overexposure to ultraviolet rays, a high fat and low fiber diet, and some workplace chemicals. Hundreds of millions of dollars are spent each year on searching for treatment, yet less money is spent on prevention. Should we devote more resources to treating cancer or to preventing it? Explain.
Why is it inaccurate to say, “Smoking causes cancer”?
