To explain: The reasons why individuals who require dialysis are usually required to take prophylactic antibiotics before dental surgery or other invasive procedures.
Introduction: The kidney is an important organ of the excretory system, and a nephron is the basic structural unit of the kidney. It is necessary to maintain a homeostatic balance or equilibrium in the blood composition and body fluids. Thus, kidney failure may require an artificial intervention in the form of dialysis. Dialysis involves filtration of a solution, such as the lymph and blood, and dialysis of a fluid or a dialysate through a semipermeable membrane. Dialysis can be of two types, namely, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
