Summary Introduction

The process of reproduction in fungi takes place by the means of both sexual and asexual events. These sexual and asexual events lead to the production of variety of sexual and asexual spores which ultimately give rise to the new fungal cells.

Fungi reproduce sexually by spore formation (ascospores and basidiospores) whereas asexually fungi can reproduce by fragmentation, budding and vegetative spores (conidia and sporangiospores).
