A fatty acid is the carboxylic acid that has a long aliphatic chain and it can be either saturated or unsaturated. Mostly the naturally occurring fatty acids consist of unbranched chain that has an even number of carbon atoms. The fatty acids are taken from the triglycerides or from the phospholipids.
