To explain: The causes of infertility in males and females.
Introduction: Reproductive system is used for the sexual reproduction. Reproductive system consists of a series of organs that secrete hormones called sex hormones and produce reproductive cells. Infertility is the failure to conceive a child after 12 months of unprotected sexual intercourse.

Explanation of Solution
The causes of infertility are following below:
- The problem in males may be due to change in sperm or semen production, hormonal abnormalities, or physical obstruction of sperm passage
- The hormonal changes may be attributed to pituitary, hypothalamus, or testicular problems
- Chemotherapy or environmental pollutants may reduce the sperm viability
- In women altered hormonal changes may occur due to use of oral contraceptives, pituitary, hypothalamus problems
- Structural abnormalities in female such as small or bicornuate uterus or uterine fibroids can also cause infertility
- Increase in age of partners
- The fallopian tubes, epididymis, or vas deferens may be obstructed by scar tissues associated with some infections or endometriosis.
- Change in vaginal pH due to infection may not allow survival of sperm
- Development of antibodies in women against sperm
- Cigarette smoking in either of partners
