To explain: The comparison and contrast between endergonic reaction and exergonic reaction.
Answer to Problem 37R
Exergonic reaction is that reaction in which free energy change in a
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
The free energy change is negative in an exergonic reaction while it is positive in an endergonic reaction.
Exergonic and endergonic reactions are spontaneous reactions because they occur contiguously without any addition of energy. In an exergonic reaction, the free energy change is negative because the free energy change of the reactants is greater than that of the products. But in the case of the endergonic reaction, the free energy the product is greater than that of the reactants and hence, the free energy change is positive in that reaction.
Conclusion:
Thus, the exergonic and endergonic reaction are different from each other.
