Introduction:

Z (atomic number) is the total number of protons (Np) in an atom, which is present inside the nucleus. In an electrically neutral atom, Np is equal to the number of electrons (Ne). On the other hand, the total number of protons (Np) and neutrons (Nn) in the atom’s nucleus makes up the mass number (A), which is also used as a measure of atomic weight.
