Summary Introduction

Introduction: Electronegativity is the tendency to pull electrons from a less electronegative atom to the more electronegative atom. This results in the formation of ions, where one atom having strong attraction for electrons pulls one or more electrons fully away from the other atom. For example: if an atom requires one electron to complete the octet, it pulls an electron from another atom that has one weakly held electron in its outer shell. This way the atom completes its octet and attains a stable configuration.
