Chapter 2, Problem 9TYK
Summary Introduction

Introduction: The elements present in the nature occur as a mixture of isotopes. Isotopes vary in the number of neutrons and thereby affect the mass number. Stable isotopes and unstable isotopes are the two types of isotopes. The atoms of the isotopes that have the unstable nuclei are called the unstable isotope. The unstable isotope of an element that has undergone radioactive decay is called the radioactive isotope. Most common elements present in living organisms are carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, sulfur, and phosphorus.
