Question
Chapter 20, Problem 2MC
Summary Introduction
Introduction:
Prokaryotes synthesize specialized signaling molecules and secrete them on the surrounding environment. When a large number of prokaryotes are present in one place, the concentration of these molecules become high and it starts to move along the surface of the cells like slime. The molecules are attached to the receptors of the cells and may alter their function, a process known as quorum sensing.
