Introduction:

Coliforms are opportunistic pathogens that ferment lactose at a very fast rate. They are facultative anaerobes and are found in the intestinal tracts of animals, in plants, soil, and decaying matter. Few examples of Coliforms are E. Coli, Klebsiella, and Enterobacter. The latter is a coliform which is often responsible for the contamination of dairy products.
