Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation: The issues involving the use of fertilizers and pesticides should be discussed.

Concept Introduction:

Fertilizers: Fertilizers are compounds that are added to plants to promote growth.

They include following types: 1. Organic fertilizer: Carbon based composed contains organic matter like vegetables, plants, cow urine etc.

2. Inorganic fertilizer: It contains inorganic chemicals like nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium etc.

For good results use of fertilizer, farmer should know the exact combination of fertilizer.

Pesticides:It is any substance or mixture of substances intended for preventing, destroying any pest. Pesticides are also those works like herbicides, fungicides, and others controlling pests.

Types: As per pests they can kill -

1. Insecticides − Insects


2. Herbicides − Unwanted plants and weeds


3. Rodenticides − Rodents (rats & mice)


4. Bactericides − Bacteria


5. Fungicides − Fungi


6. Larvicides − Larvae

Pesticides can also be divided as:

Biodegradable:Those which can be broken down by microbes and other into harmless compounds and which do not remain disintegrated for years

Persistent: Those which may take months or years to break down.
