Chapter 20.3, Problem 3RC
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation: It should be determined for the following lighting source is the most energy efficient.

Concept Introduction:

Light-emitting diodes:

The light emitting diode is a P-N junction diode. It is a special doped diode and mad e up of a special type of semiconductors. When the light emits in the forward biased, then it is called as a light emitting diode.

The light emitting diode is a two – led semiconductor light source.

Nick Holonyak invented the idea of light emitting diode, and he was working for the general electric company.

The LED is a special type of diode and they have similar electrical characteristic of a PN junction diode.

Hence the LED allows the flow of current in the forward direction and blocks the current in the reverse direction.

Nonrenewable sources are those for which the energy source is used and not concurrently replenished.

Renewable energy sources:

The sun energy is an example of renewable resources.

These include solar energy and energy derived from wind, biomass, and moving water likewise geothermal energy is a renewable resources.

2. a) b)
Give TWO reasons why aluminium metal was not commonly used till last century, even though it is one of the most common elements on earth. (b) Why are copper and lithium such important elements today?
Provide two reactions for rubidium which are of high importance. They could be reactions of wide importance in any field of life (industry, medical, environmental, etc) and should be the ones which are used till now by the relevant field.
