The pulmonary arteries transporting the blood from the heart to the lungs contain the deoxygenated blood. The exchange of the gases takes place in the capillaries of the heart and the blood vessels. The pulmonary vein transports the blood from the lungs to the heart. The systemic circulation transports the blood to the organs.
