Concept explainers
Interpretation:
Match each of the following processes with one of the items.
(1) Replication of DNA | (a) Okazaki fragments |
(2) Transcription | (b) mRNA is synthesized from nuclear DNA |
(3) translation | (c) Viruses |
(4) Reverse transcription | (d) Restriction enzymes |
(5) Reverse transcription | (e) tRNA molecules bond to codons |
Concept introduction:
Okazaki fragments are the fragments of DNA is produced during the replication of DNA.
Transcription is a process during which mRNA is synthesized from nuclear DNA.
Translation: during this process tRNA bond to anti-codons and these anti-codons curries at the head of tRNA and tail contains the corresponding amino acid.
Restriction enzymes are DNA cutting enzymes. Each restriction enzymes cuts DNA at or near specific sites. These smaller fragments combine to gather to give recombinant DNA.
When retrovirus enters the host cell they first convert their RNA into DNA. This process is known as reverse transcription. Hence reverse transcription is related to a retrovirus.
