Chapter 22, Problem 16RFT
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Blood capillaries are small blood vessels that have thin walls and form networks known as capillary beds. The endothelial cells form only one layer in the capillaries. They serve as a site for the exchange of many substances such as nutrients, gases, and waste substances. The blood flow through the capillaries is also highly regulated. For instance, the metarteriole regulates the blood flow in the capillary and the thoroughfare channels provide communication between venules and arterioles.
