Listeriosis is a type of bacterial infection in human caused by Listeria monocytogenes.  It is a facultative anaerobic bacterium, which is able to survive both in the presence of oxygen and in the absence of oxygen. The disease is caused by eating of food, which is contaminated by the bacteria. Listeriosis is a severe infection that affects the nervous system of humans. Its signs and symptoms include headache, stiff neck, confusion or change in alertness, loss of balance, convulsion, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting fever, and muscle ache.

These play a role in illness and disturb the normal functioning of the body.

Listeriosis is an outbreak due to consumption of improperly cooked or undercooked frozen vegetables and corn that are contaminated by bacteria the Listeria monocytogenes. These vegetables and corn are continuously supplied in the market that causes food-poisoning among people.
