Chapter 22, Problem 3DQ
Summary Introduction

To review:

Considering the fact of limb generation in Salamanders, determine the key components of positional information. The ability of positional information to be maintained and accessed during regeneration.

Introduction:

Salamanders exhibit a property of regeneration of entire complex structure after injury, including entire limbs, property absent in mammals. Limb regeneration depends on the formation of a blastema, from which the new appendage develops. Regeneration blastema is an aggregation of relatively undifferentiated cells derived from the originally differentiated tissue, which proliferates and redifferentiates into the new limb parts.
