Introduction:

Respiration is also termed as breathing. It is a primary process where oxygen is received by the cells in the body and the carbon dioxide produced by the cells are eliminated through the lungs. A receptor is a cell that responds to heat, chemicals, and external stimulus and produces a signal to the sensory nerve. A chemoreceptor is a sensory receptor cell which responds to any minute change in the chemical substance to produce a biological signal. Chemoreceptors for respiration are present in the central nervous system and arteries that responds to any changes in oxygen, carbon dioxide (CO₂), and pH in the body.
