Explanation of Solution

Introduction:

The chemical equation for the reaction:

  2HCl(aq)+Ca(OH)2(aq)CaCl2(aq)+2H2O(l)

The chemical equation for the reaction:

  2HCl+Ca(OH)2CaCl2+2H2O

From the equation, the reactants are HCl and Ca(OH)2 which react in the ratio 2:1 .

The products formed are CaCl2 and H2O , in the ratio 1:2 .

For every two molecules of HCl reacting with Ca(OH)2 , two molecules of H2O are formed. So the ratio between HCl and H2O is 1:1 .

Therefore, for the formation of four molecules of H2O , four molecules of HCl are required.

Conclusion: Four molecules of HCl are needed to form four molecules of H2O .
