Question
Chapter 22.4, Problem 1C
Summary Introduction
To describe: Some transitions from hunter-gatherer societies to agricultural societies to the industrial revolution and find out whether all these societies have gone through these stages in this order or not.
Concept introduction: Human beings are the first animals to undergo organic evolution, cultural, and social evolution. Human beings are highly advanced living organisms because they have greater intelligence and information transmission in the form of knowledge. Cultural evolution is not obtained through genes but rather by language. Languages are another unique feature of human beings.

Activity 2: Give examples of different species of animals that can be found in different parts of the world, to support an evidence of evolution which is “biogeography”.
MAKE CONNECTIONS Commercial fisheries targetolder, larger cod fish, causing cod that reproduce at ayounger age and smaller size to be favored by naturalselection. Younger, smaller cod have fewer offspring thando older, larger cod. Predict how evolution in responseto fishing would affect the ability of a cod populationto recover from overfishing. What other reciprocal ecoevolutionary effects might occur? (See Concept 23.3.)
Describe the ecological niche of humans. How have science and technologychanged our realized niche during the past 1000 years?
