Question
Chapter 2.3, Problem 2MQ
Summary Introduction
A cell typically consists of several small molecules and macromolecules. These cellular components present in the cytoplasm are differentiated from the external environment by a cytoplasmic membrane. Cell membrane act as a barrier which allows the transport of certain molecules across the cell and restricts the diffusion of other molecules. Physically, the cytoplasmic membrane is rather weak, however it possesses an ideal structure to perform its key function in the cell: selective permeability.
