Concept introduction:
The d-orbitals are having same energy but their degeneracy is lost in presence of ligand and it splitted in different energy state, depends on the structural geometry and number of ligand present. The splitting depend upon the strength of the field wither strong field or weak ligands is present, this in turn depends on the distance and intensity of attraction between the metal atom and the ligand.
