Explanation of Solution

The body cells, tissues, and organs are affected by the aging changes and these changes have an effect on all the body system functions.

The factors that contribute to the aging process are as follows:

  • Apoptosis: Apoptosis is a pathological process, known as programmed cell death, in which the unnecessary cells are eliminated during the cellular development and during other biological processes.
    • Cellular damage: Cellular injury refers to the injury that occurs to the cells and to the extra cellular matrix (ECM). The cellular injury occurs when the cell is unable to maintain adaptive steady state during injurious stimuli. The chemical agents, insufficient amount of oxygen, free radicals, physical and mechanical factors, genetic factors, infectious agents, and imbalance nutrition are the injurious stimulus of the cellular injury.
    • The increased effects of the free radicals on the cells.
  • Increased autoimmune reactions
  • Environmental agents
