Question
Chapter 24, Problem 5TYR
Summary Introduction
Introduction:
Calcium regulates skeletal strength, muscle contraction, blood clotting, and acts as a second messenger and promotes neurotransmitter exocytosis. Low concentration of calcium is maintained in the intracellular location because more concentration of phosphates is required for cellular processes. High concentration of calcium and phosphate leads to the formation of calcium phosphate crystals in the cytoplasm of the cell. Hence, cells pump out calcium ions to the extracellular location to maintain phosphate ions with more concentration.
