Chapter 24.4, Problem 13BYGO
Summary Introduction
To analyze:
The three regions of the small intestine.
Introduction:
Food from the stomach enters into the small intestine wherein the maximum absorption of nutrients from food occurs. The small intestine is comprised of three regions:
- Duodenum
- Jejunum
- Ileum
Out of the three segments, duodenum and jejunum form the major segment for the absorption of food while only some amount of absorption takes place in the ileum segment.

To do this you will need to 1. summarize the digestive system by identifying the gastrointestinal tract organs and their functions as the donut moves along the track. The function of the stomach, describe chyme, the role of the stomach in mechanical digestion, chemical digestion (how, describe the chemical digestion and enzymes), and absorption. Why is it necessary for the stomach contents to be so acidic? How does the stomach protect itself from digestion?
