Explanation of Solution

The material removal processes are divided in to two types namely conventional machining processes and nontraditional machining processes.

The nontraditional machining process is not utilizing any mechanisms to remove the material like the process of conventional machining and this process will not uses abrasives or sharp cutting tools for cutting process. This nontraditional machining utilizes various energies for the process of the removal of material like mechanical, thermal, electrical, and chemical energies.

Reasons for the importance of nontraditional processes are,

  • The requirement to shape the non-metals and new metal alloys, which are tough to perform in conventional processes.
  • The requirement of complex and unusual work part geometries, and
  • The need to prevent from surface damage, this is frequently associated with the conventional machining process.
