Concept introduction:Cystic Fibrosis is a serious genetic disorder wherein the lungs are clogged with a large amount of sticky and thick mucus, further obstructing the pancreas. CFTR gene encodes a membrane channel protein called Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator that helps in the movement of chloride ions across the membrane which is required for the making of thin and slippery mucus.
