A sex chromosome is a pair of chromosomes that determine the sex of the chromosomes, that is, whether the individual is male or female. In mammals, the two sex chromosomes are X and Y. There are a total of 23 pairs of chromosomes in humans, out of which one pair is of sex chromosome.
