A dominance hierarchy is a type of hierarchy or ranking system through which animals try to minimalize conflict and distribute resources among themselves. Usually, the dominant individuals have the foremost access to resources. Territorial behavior refers to the behavior in which animals defend their territory which often requires a significant amount of their time and energy.
