The correct formula for the compound iron
Concept Introduction:
Ionic compounds are composed of a metal cation and nonmetal anion.
In each of the given compound, the cations and anions are to be identified. Then, the ratios of combination by the use of charges on the cation and anion in each compound are to be determined.
The roman numerals given in the compound represents the charge on the cation.
For metals that show more than one charge on them, distinction is made according to the roman numerals indicated against their name.
