Question
Chapter 26, Problem 60P
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
An example for the conversion of chemical energy of ATP to electrical energy is to be stated.
Concept Introduction:
The full form of ATP is adenosine triphosphate which contains three phosphate groups. The energy in human beings is stored as ATP. ATP is synthesized in mitochondria (called power house of the cell) by oxidative phosphorylation. It acts as a source of energy to carry out the biological processes. The hydrolysis of ATP results in the formation of the chemical energy. This energy is further converted into other forms of energy. Diffusion is the movement of ions from higher concentration to lower concentration across the cell membrane.
