Flatworms belong to Phylum Platyhelminths. Characteristics include bilateral symmetry and triploblasty and non-segmented body. They are hermaphrodites, i.e., they possess reproductive organs from both sexes. Most flatworms can reproduce both sexually and asexually. Also, it may be directly (through laying eggs) or indirectly (ciliated larval form). They are both free-living and parasitic. Examples of free-living platyhelminths are flatworms, while parasitic platyhelminths include tapeworms.
