Concept explainers
Half steps again (ExH). Suppose now that you are a very, very, very short line segment (your length is less than 1/100,000,000,000). You are standing on the number line so that your center is right on 1, but, again, you are dreaming of 0. You shift your segment so that your center is at 1/2, midway between 0 and 1. You proceed to move closer to 0 by taking a step that is half of the previous one. You continue this process again and again. Will your segment ever contain 0? Explain. Is this observation less puzzling than the previous Mindscape? Why?
