Concept explainers
List some of the benefits and challenges of a terrestrial habitat for the first land plants.
To explain: Some challenges and benefits of terrestrial habitat for the first land plants.
Introduction: Plants are responsible for giving oxygen required by the aerobic heterotrophs for producing habitats for different organisms as well as for giving food to terrestrial heterotrophs. Every land plants have specialized reproductive organs. Examples for land plants includes gymnosperms, ferns, mosses, tress, grasses, and hornworts.
Explanation of Solution
Terrestrial habitats of plants refer to the plants that are present on the land. For example, deserts, forests, and wetlands. The terrestrial habitats of first land plants have some challenges and benefits. The challenges of first land plants include relative water scarcity and absence of structural support. Benefits of the first land plant include plenty of soil minerals and carbon dioxide, and unfiltered and bright sunlight.
