Chapter 29, Problem 2TYU
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Roots are the important structures in a plant. They are involved in the absorption of water and mineral from the soil and transport them to different parts of the plant. In various species of plants, roots form a symbiotic relationship with microorganisms that helps the plants in the absorption of essential mineral nutrients. Thus, eventually results in the evolution of the structure of the root by forming cluster roots and with rhizosphere organisms. The evolution of the mutualistic relationship between fungi and roots is known as mycorrhizae. Plants provide organic molecules to fungi and fungi supply water and mineral nutrients to plants.
