Concept Introduction:The valence-shell electron-pair repulsion (VSEPR) theory states that each atom in a molecule occupy a geometry which reduces the repulsions between electrons in the valence shell of that atom. Geometry can be predicted looking at the Lewis structure of the molecule and its steric number.
